Challenge

After REAP 1 built the foundation for rice-field agrotourism in Bumi Rapak, the Bhuana Sari farmer group needed institutional strengthening to withstand climate change and other operational challenges. PT Ganda Alam Makmur saw the need to broaden facilitation beyond tourism infrastructure toward more holistic community resilience. Waste management and climate adaptation emerged as additional issues to integrate.

What we did

Our team facilitated community institution strengthening in Bumi Rapak across three areas: climate adaptation, waste management, and further agrotourism service development. The engagement was designed to diversify community livelihoods rather than rely on a single enterprise. The project was a direct continuation of REAP 1 with PT Ganda Alam Makmur.

Outcome

The Bumi Rapak community now has institutions better prepared for climate adaptation and waste management, alongside more mature agrotourism services. The livelihood diversification built through the project reduced reliance on a single income source. With REAP 2, facilitation in Bumi Rapak expanded from rice-field agrotourism into climate adaptation and waste management.
