Challenge
Balangan Coal Companies needed an accurate picture of socio-economic conditions in the ring-1 villages of its operational area in South Kalimantan as the basis for a BUMDes development roadmap. Without an evidence-based methodology, village development planning risked missing the real needs on the ground. The company sought a participatory approach that involved communities in the mapping process itself.
What we did
Our team applied participatory, evidence-based methodologies to map socio-economic conditions across the ring-1 villages of Balangan's operational area. The mapping results were then developed into a village-level development roadmap usable for BUMDes program planning. The process actively involved communities rather than treating them as mere data sources.
Outcome
Balangan Coal Companies gained a credible socio-economic picture along with a village-level BUMDes development roadmap for its ring-1 area. The roadmap became a reference for the next stage of Balangan's village development program. The project expanded our client network in the coal mining sector.
