Challenge
The villages of Maburai, Warukin, and Murung Ilung in South Kalimantan held potential in horticulture and poultry farming but needed facilitation to turn that potential into market-ready enterprises. PT Saptaindra Sejati (AlamTri), through its New Bina Desa program, sought an approach combining technical production with community institution strengthening. The challenge was building two enterprise lines at once — chili horticulture and layer poultry — in parallel.
What we did
Our team facilitated the SIAP PANGAN program across three villages, covering technical production for chili horticulture and layer poultry, institutional strengthening, and market-readiness preparation. The engagement was designed so both enterprise lines reinforced each other as community livelihood sources. The project ran alongside AlamTri as part of the New Bina Desa program.
Outcome
Communities in Maburai, Warukin, and Murung Ilung gained stronger technical production skills for chili horticulture and layer poultry, backed by more capable institutions. The market readiness built through the project opened the way for communities to sell their output more consistently. The project marked our first collaboration with AlamTri in South Kalimantan.
